Many of you will have noticed Fate/Zero around right now, telling the amazing story of the Holy Grail War. However, Fate/Zero actually came second, and Fate/Stay came first. You won’t find many people praising Fate/Stay though, since it got a terrible anime adaptation (covered in about 5 minutes as of posting this ^^)

The game follows the normal format of a novel, with sprites and text, and in some instants, voicing. You get given several choices along the way, allowing the player to switch between three routes: The Saber Route, the Rin Route or the Sakura Route, which is considered to be the true route of the game. All of the routes contain different character development and in some events, even completely different characters.

I don’t really want to spoil the story, actually, because the story is a masterpiece. It’s got brilliant direction and writing, even though it drags on sometimes and even thought the babble factor is strong, and even though some parts of it are entirely unneeded, it’s an overly strong piece of work that tales an amazing story of the Holy Grail War. Over the three routes, all the characters get really strong and powerful development, and all the servants are fascinating people. It’s even got brilliant antagonists on ever route, with their own motivation and their own reason for desiring a wish to be granted.

But very much like I said, I don’t want to spoil the story; or even talk about parts of it in detail. Even those who’ve watched the anime will be shocked at some of the plot twists, And for those who havn’t, the writing, as the pictures along with the amazing OST, drag people into the epic tale of the Holy Grail War. It’s something that any fan of the Fate series cannot be forgiven for not reading, and anyone who’s into complex and in-depth stories also needs to give this a try.
